Fresh contemporary original art for fashion and home products
Some of you may know that my scarf designs started out as art prints. These were original photographs altered by accident (!) while using my then very rudimentary understanding of “photoshop.” The unexpected results inspired me to further explore the process of altering images digitally. In my ongoing collage practice I often altered my photographs by hand - cutting, coloring and pasting. Using a computer program to do some of those steps felt like learning a foreign language, one I’m still studying.Throughout my practice, a camera has been my constant tool and photography is typically the start of my creative process. Like an underpainting, my photographs serve as the scaffolding for further development. Recently I’ve been combining my oldest and newest practices - altering my digitally printed photograph with hand coloring. Not exactly full circle - maybe an ellipse.I am glad to show you some of these works here - a few of which you may recognize as designs in the scarves.
